  • Do you offer any face-to-face treatment?
I offer only telepsychology services, which is therapy done virtually using video conferencing and other technologies. So, I don’t offer any in-person, face-to-face treatment.
  • Can I live anywhere and work with you?
While I’m based in the Pittsburgh area, I work with individuals throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, I cannot see people who live in other states.
  • I’m not great with technology. Can I still do telepsychology treatment?
Most certainly. All you need is a device with the internet and video conferencing capabilities, like a smart phone or a computer with a video camera. A lot of people I work with have limited experience with these devices, so I always set aside time to answer questions and provide whatever tech support you need.
  • Do you accept insurance?
I accept Blue Cross\Blue Shield insurances. If you have another insurance, I can provide you with receipts for our sessions which can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. But, if you plan to do this, I highly recommend you first contact your insurance company to ask whether the treatment I provide would be covered. Coverage for teletherapy services frequently changes and reimbursement is not guaranteed.
  • Can I pay for treatment? How much will treatment cost?
You can pay for treatment, and I accept credit, debit, FSA and HSA cards. I charge $175 for the initial evaluation appointment, and $150 for the evaluation feedback session and all subsequent appointments. If you’re paying for treatment, following the evaluation feedback session I’ll provide you with a “Good Faith Estimate” of the total expected cost of non-emergency services. I may also provide additional or revised estimates over the course of treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith estimate, you can dispute the bill. If you’d like to learn more about Good Faith estimates, information is available here: www.cms.gov/nosurprises/.
  • What times do you offer appointments?
I offer appointments on weekdays. My earliest appointment is 9 AM and my last appointment is 4 PM.
  • How frequently would we be meeting for appointments?
Either once a week or once every other week, depending on your goals and the specific treatment we’re doing.
  • What will therapy sessions be like? What will be expected of me?
Our sessions will always follow an agenda that you and I collaboratively put together. This is to make sure we make the most of our time and get to the topics that are most important to you. During session, you’ll learn tools and skills to help you deal with problems and move towards your goals, and at the end of session I’ll ask for your positive and constructive feedback. This is to make sure treatment is meeting your expectations, and so I can tailor our work together to better meet your needs and goals. Between sessions, you’ll have practice assignments to do that will help you learn to use the tools and assist with making the changes in your life that you want to make.
  • I’m interested in a longer-term therapy relationship where I can come in, discuss my week, and get some things off my chest. Do you offer this kind of therapy?
This kind of treatment is called supportive therapy, and it’s not one of the treatments I offer. The therapies I offer are focused on learning tools and skills and generally last somewhere between 8 and 16 sessions.
  • Can the treatments you offer be used to fulfill legal requirements?
In many cases the treatments I offer can be used to satisfy court requirements. However, this is not always the case, so I strongly advise all clients with legal involvement to check with the court before starting treatment whether the therapy we would be doing together would meet their requirements.
